Kick It with Donna V. episode 6
What is a pattern? It is a combination of qualities that are repetitive.
Some patterns are good. For example, you eat healthy, you’re active, you are respectful to others, you mind your manners, you provide for your family. Some patterns are not good. Yet we continue to repeat them. Why do we do the same thing over and over again and expect different results? How do we recognize a bad pattern and change it?
I’ll use a bad pattern I had as an example. I’ve been divorced for eight years. I have dated several men with the same characteristics. Never been married and did not have children. The same negative result was achieved. The relationship goes south. Why am I attracted to the same type of man over and over again? Now I have to look at myself since the common denominator is me. What is in me that is attracting this type of person? I recognized that I had this pattern and wanted to change it. I decided to cut the head off the snake. No more dating this type of man! A few weeks later, I met someone randomly at an upscale restaurant bar with a girlfriend. A spark was there and that spark continues to this day. I changed a pattern and was rewarded with meeting someone special. Something positive came out of breaking a negative pattern.
